In a recent post (http://www.agandauto.com/car-accident-injury-crashes/) we took a look at the breakdown of accidents resulting in injuries, within various speed ‘bands’. In this post we will consider the same speed limits and the accidents that resulted in fatalities.
All data has been retrieved from the NHTSA – visit http://www.nhtsa.gov/ for more information or specific details.
The graph below provides a breakdown of Crashes which resulted in fatalities, and within the named speed limit bands.
From the above it is blatantly apparent that any speed above 35 mph when involved in a collision can be deadly, with almost 70% of fatalities occurring within the 35 through 60+ mph speed limit bands. Taking this a step further we provide the breakdown of single vehicle crashes and multiple vehicle crashes, within which fatalities were incurred. Again it reiterates the higher speed limits claiming the vast majority of lives within auto crashes.
